Urinalysis

Share

A urinalysis is a procedure in which a patient’s urine is evaluated for a variety of parameters and also can give an assessment of kidney function. Evaluation of the urine for infection, blood, white blood cells, glucose and the concentration of the urine are common parameters. At Savannah Veterinary Internal Medicine & Intensive Care, all patients that have a urinalysis performed also have a urine sediment analysis performed. This added step confirms the presence of other components of the urine, such as crystals and bacteria, that may otherwise not be detected.
