We are the only facility in the greater Savannah area offering 24-hour intensive care for hospitalized patients. Staffed during the day by board-certified specialists in internal medicine and registered veterinary technicians, and overnight by an emergency veterinarian and staff, Savannah Veterinary Internal Medicine & Intensive Care is capable of treating the most critical patients. When your pet is admitted to our ICU, there is no need for you to transport your pet to your family veterinarian in the morning, or home at night.
All patients admitted to our hospital are cared for in the intensive care unit (ICU). We do not provide boarding services, therefore, all patients in the facility are hospitalized for a medical reason.
Our ICU is centrally located within the hospital and allows for constant monitoring of hospitalized patients. All of our daily activities center around or occurs within the ICU, thereby ensuring continuous monitoring, treatment, and supervision of your pet while it is under our care.
All patients within the ICU are visible to multiple technicians at all times and are never alone.
Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year, dedicated ICU nurses administer treatments, perform blood tests and provide nursing care for our ICU patients under the direction and supervision of a veterinary internist during the day, and an emergency veterinarian at night. Patients are treated in the ICU for as little as one night, or as long as several weeks, depending on the nature of their illness.
After hours (nights, weekends, holidays) our board-certified internists are available by phone, as well as to come into the hospital if needed, to assist the emergency veterinarians with any questions or concerns they may have with any of our patients.
